What's Really in Your Supermarket Egg?
Most eggs in Pakistan come from conditions you'd never accept if you saw them.
Routine Antibiotics
Commercial hens are routinely given antibiotics to maximize output. (Growth hormone use in poultry is prohibited in many countries; the Pakistani regulatory picture is less clear — we focus on what is well-documented.)
Caged & Filth-Fed
Packed in cages, widely reported to be fed industrial by-products. On the stricter reading, classified as jallalah by scholars (reversible via istibra, but commercial operations do not practice this).
Weeks Old
Supermarket eggs can be weeks old by the time they reach the shelf — fresh eggs keep their flavor and nutrient character better.
No Transparency
No farm name. No origin. No way to verify what the hens ate or how they lived.
Ausia Farms Eggs: None of That.
What Is Ausia Farms?
A permaculture startup by two friends, Asim and Mustafa, in Ausia Village, Murree. Starting with organic eggs — growing towards chicken, goat meat, honey, mushrooms, and fresh vegetables.
Ausia Farms is a permaculture startup founded by two friends, Asim and Mustafa, in the beautiful hills of Ausia Village, Murree, Pakistan. We are starting with organic eggs and growing towards a full range of tayyab produce — free-range chicken, goat meat, raw honey, mushrooms, and rare fresh vegetables not found anywhere else in Pakistan. Everything grown in harmony with the land, raised with ihsan.
Why Does Tayyab Matter?
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah is Tayyab and He accepts only that which is tayyab."
What we eat becomes our blood, our energy, our prayers. It shapes not just our body but our ruh.
Most eggs and chicken sold in Pakistan today come from animals raised in conditions that would disturb any conscience. Commercially farmed chickens are packed in cages and widely reported to be fed industrial by-products — which, on the stricter reading, scholars classify as jallalah: animals nourished on filth. The fuqaha have long held that consuming jallalah is at minimum makrooh tahrimi, and many hold it outright impermissible. The ruling is also reversible: istibra — quarantining the animal on clean feed — removes jallalah status, but commercial operations do not practice this. On eggs specifically, scholars differ: some apply the jallalah ruling to the egg, others hold eggs remain permissible. This is a contested question. But beyond the ruling, consider what it means: that impurity enters the food, and the food enters you.
Our grandparents did not eat this way. The chicken in their courtyard roamed, pecked at grain, drank clean water, and lived with dignity until the day it was slaughtered with Bismillah facing the Qibla. That is what tayyab means — not just a halal death, but a halal life.
At Ausia Farms our chickens are free-range, fed purely on grain and natural feed, given clean water daily, and handled with care and ihsan from the first day to the last. No cages. No filth feed. No shortcuts.
When you feed your children an egg from Ausia Farms, you are feeding them something pure — something your body can build from, something your soul need not carry the weight of.
Eat tayyab. Live tayyab.
Ausia Farms — raised with ihsan, sold with honesty.
